Hvolsöllur Eastern Rangárţing
Eastern Rangárţing (Rangárţingi eystra) is inhabited by some 1.650 pe0pel. The district is border to the north and west by Outer Rangáring. The Eastern Rangárţing border runs on ahrough the clacier Mýrdaljökull, south (along a stretch of river known variously as Fúlakvísl and as Jökusá á Sólhheimasandi) to the sea and when west along the coast til the river Hólmsá. The distric´s foremost populated area and industrial centre is Hvolsvöllur, with around 720 inhabitants. Business at Hvolsvöllur consists primarily in services provided for the surrounding area of agricultural production and in service to inhabitants and tourists. At Hvolsvöllur, the are a bank, post office, tourist information centre, hotel, guesthouse, accommodation, summer houses , a campsite, restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, surgery, sport area, pool, primary school, garage, tyre centre, rescue team, filling station and various other businesses and public service. Flower are extensively cultivated in the area and there is a considerable livestock farming and agriculture.
